Tesla battery health on Australian classifieds

Battery health is the used-Tesla argument that wastes the most petrol (yours, driving to see the car). Ask for evidence before you book the flight from Perth.

What “range” on a listing means

The number in a classified is almost never EPA, WLTP, or a laboratory. It is the seller’s last displayed estimate, often after a 100% charge in mild weather. Summer in Darwin and winter in Canberra will not match that screenshot.

Prefer:

• A 10-day energy chart from the app.
• A Supercharger session that tapered normally at high state of charge.
• Tyre size in the same sentence as range. 21-inch wheels lie.

Heat and DC charging

Australian cars live hotter than California brochure cars. Frequent DC charging is not automatically a write-off; daily 100% and a cabin that cooks in January is worse. Ask where the car is parked at noon.

Model-by-model

• Model 3/Y 2021+ heat pump cars are the easier daily in the south.
• Older S/X need a conversation about battery replacement quotes, not vibes.
• Performance packs with low-profile tyres will look thirsty even with a healthy pack.
